I now have a class in Korea, which I will begin teaching this Wednesday. I "meet" my Korean counterpart tomorrow night during a Skype meeting at 10 PM my time. Starting in mid October, I will be teaching a group of Japanese students.
As a side note, I guess this teaching job will be the great experiment to see if I can connect with people through a digital medium. Will they listen to me if I'm not physically present?
Fantastic! I think you'll have lots of interesting challenges with this job, including classroom management! It's a group of students that you teach all at the same time? What can you do if they don't pay attention or start a fight or something?
ReplyDeleteThat's quite an experience. You may require an adult to be present in the classroom to maintain the order, as you are not able to be physically there.

Good questions and observations guys! I will have a Korean or Japanese teacher on the other side keeping order. Plus, I'll have a seating chart with which I can call on students (although I don't speak either language, so I will butcher some names!). Lastly, the education culture over there is more intense and the drive to do well more compelling than here in the States. Oh, and Kristen, the Korean class starts at 11:20 our time, and the Japanese class at 1:30.
